About · Est. 1999

Paul Ernst.

Solving Hijinx on the Net since 1999. Principal of NetHijinx — ISP, OSP, and project management out of Thousand Oaks, California. Operational excellence, people who own their work, and one owner from notice-to-proceed to as-built.

Paul Ernst, principal of NetHijinx

The work, and how it got here.

Paul came up through operations — fourteen years as a senior account PM at Aerioconnect in Los Angeles, then Director of Project Management at BAI Connect, then running a regional fiber provider in the Columbia River Gorge. That is what he brings to a job: workforce, fleet, budget, problem-solving in the field, and the people who have to own the weekly.

Before the plant, he ran a floor — GameStop in Thousand Oaks, Blockbuster in Malibu. The P&L, the labor, the weekly. Same muscle, different inventory. In 1997 he spent a month with a church crew helping a village in Mexico recover from storm damage. Show up. Fix what broke. Leave it better.

AI belongs on the reports, the as-builts, and the coordination layer — wherever it actually makes a PM faster. It does not replace an owner. The name is still the warning label. Hijinx happen on the net. The consulting is how you keep that off the critical path.

How the work gets done

Operational excellence

Construction, install, and service delivery on one cadence. If they don’t share a weekly, you don’t have operations. You have motion.

Solve the actual problem

Diagnose in the vault, on the pole, in the IDF. Treat the cause, not the slide that describes it.

People own the work

Crews, leads, and PMs with names on the interfaces. Headcount is not a plan. Accountability is.

AI that earns its keep

Use it to shorten reports, as-builts, and the coordination layer. An owner still signs the cutover.
