Yes indeed. In about 4 months time (this is a VERY spur of the moment decision) and friend and i will be jetting over to your lovely country, the united states of america. which will be good.

what i'm wondering is... where are all the good places (across the country, doesn't matter where) to see shows - like... GOOD shows. even local shows are cool. Primarly we're there to see shai hulud and as many hardcore bands as we can. So where can we see them?

Also, accomodation and car hire - i assume you guys have budget rent-a-car over there? lets hope so. And with the accomodation - what are backpackers like over there? any good? is there anyone with spare floor space? i know that probably comes across as rude... but... think how good it would be to have some travellers come into your lives from another country, give you a few bucks to sleep on your floor or couch or something, and tell you how they have kangaroos and koala bears as pets (well, my parents do). and yeah!

so any information you guys can provide would be nice. please?!?!?

if you came to boston you wouldn't need a car and could just use the t. i dunno about shows, you could check www.nextticketing.com for listings though.

i don't know if you're planning to go to multiple places or what. but LA is good for shows, and san francisco is too but they would probably get the same stuff for the most part. florida has a lot of "hardcore" bands from it or something, BUT FLORIDA IS A HELL HOLE AND IT SUCKS. so i really don't reccommend florida. new york would be good too and probably boston. i don't know if you're planning to go to lots of places. portland is the best place ever, but you're probably not into the stuff in it. otherwise, stay out of the north west because it sucks. don't go to arizona.

you have to be 25 and have a credit card to rent a car. maybe you need other things too but i'm not totally sure.

you could stay in youth hostels in some cities. i think the prices range between 12 and 25 dollars per night (i'm sort of assuming, but i've heard lots of different prices).

that depends... it is true that in most places, they have the 25 year old rule, but I know that in select cities, rent-a-wreck (yeah, car rental place with a goofy name) rents to those who are 21. also, one of the car rental places was willing to rent to me on David and my's trip (we ended up borrowing my grandma's car instead though), but there was something like a 10 dollar extra charge per day.

If you choose to make it to Detroit, you have a place ot crash at my house. I have an open door policy for travelers. No charge, free laundry facilities and at least one hot meal.

Here's my advice...While Norm's offer is very generous, YOU DON'T WANT TO GO TO DETROIT!!! No offense, Norm, just helping a brother out You don't want to come to Minneapolis for the same reason...It sucks!!! I still can't understand why the "Mall of America" is located in this state. Did you know that people fly here from Asia to see that crappy mall? What a rip off...
On the other hand, if you wanted to do a swap, I would go to Australia and lay on the beach for a week. It is an interesting question though...If I had to tell a tourist what the best places to see in the U.S. might be, I would probably say the West Coast. I love Portland, Seattle, some of California, and Las Vegas, Navada (though I'm doubting they are going to be as interesting or beautiful as Australia). But, if you are looking for hardcore then I might recommend NYC. They have a big HC scene.

oh, calais is kinda far from our place. Of course, compared to distances in Australia it's next door. But still, a good, 300-400 kilometers
The USA is prolly more fun for you since, hey, you'll have fewer tongue issues there, am I right ?
But remember to lock you up there... (random, just watched Bowling for columbine again)

New York City, definitely. We still manage to get a shitload of shows in and around the city (suburbs too) even with the recent decrease of venues. Plus you can get pretty much anywhere shows happen outside of the city (Long Island *suburbs of NYC* and New Jersey *next state over*) via train or bus.

Philadelphia is also a great city to check out as far as shows go, and its a great city in general.
