tsk. foolish people.
according to the bible she was a virgin. the whole rucus came up when she had the "immaculate conception" when an angel or something appeared to her and asked her to have the son of god, she said yes, she got preggas without ever bonking.

but, she was promised to be married to joseph at the same time. he found out she was preggers but to save her reputation married her anyway or something like that. so in conclusion;

1. according to the bible she was a virgin at the time of jesus' "conception".
2. she did end up marrying joseph, but she was already preggers.
3. this is the result of 11 years of catholic education yet all it has managed to do is instill an intence distrust of ritualistic religions in me. only one year to go. hurrah.
